General Information


Waiver

  •  All Blanket Glacier Chalet skiers must read and sign a waiver form. (either Guided or self guided)
  • Download and complete each page and bring to meeting place.
 

Chalet Features

  • 3 story A-Frame structure with over 1500 square feet of usable space.
  • Foam mattresses (single & double), pillows (with clean cover slips) for up to 18 guests.
  • Kitchen has a propane range/oven with more than enough cooking and eating utensils.
  • Outdoor Barbeque
  • Solar electric lights in each room.
  • Separate building with wood fired sauna, change-room/sitting room, shower, and private caretakers sleeping quarters.
  • Resident caretaker(s) to oversee building safety and supervise routine chores (hauling water, splitting firewood, helping with snow removal, chalet clean up).
  • Guide service available with advance notice ($350/day)
 

Night Prior to Trip

  • We encourage all participants to book @ the Swiss Chalet Motel. at least a month in advance to guarantee booking discount.  They offer a discount to all Blanket skiers. (1-888-272-4538)
  • A light breakfast is included with room cost.
 

Meeting Place

  • At Swiss Chalet Motel (dining room), properly dressed in appropriate winter clothing, reading to depart to staging area by 7:45am (PST)
  • Staging area is a private farmyard 17 km south of motel. (Caretaker will lead the way).
 

Day Flight Schedule

  • All skiers to be at staging area, gear unloaded & ready for heli safety talk & luggage weigh in by 8:30am.
 

Last Day Flight Schedule

  • All skiers need to be ready to fly out by 9:00am.
  • You can expect to be back in Revelstoke by noon at the latest (weather permitting)
 

Baggage and Flying weights

  • 40lbs/person of personal gear. (This does not include skies, poles, boots or food).
  • Please pack in small bags and liquor sized cardboard boxes (taped and marked as to contents and owner).
  • No large duffle bags or coolers-we have plastic containers at Chalet where frozen items may be transferred into before storing in our snow freezer.
  • PLEASE KEEP ALL SLEEPING BAGS SEPARATE – as they will be carried onto helicopter with each passenger.  This also eliminates bulky, large packs.
  • If you cannot weigh in within the restrictions you will have to reduce the amount of gear or pay for an extra flight.
 

Alcohol

  • Feel free to bring your own refreshments.
Please choose wine boxes and/or beer cans (no bottles please! - where possible)
  • Keg option (30 litres) – Mount Begbie Brewery – they deliver and collect to our meeting location. 250-837-2756
 

Emergency Communication

  • For emergency messages-contact our Canmore Office at (403)-678-4102 and office will then contact Chalet.
 

Evacuation
Insurance

  • You will be responsible for the cost of helicopter evacuation should it be necessary.  Guests should consult with their insurance company for more details.

An Understanding

  • All guests will be required to sign a waiver of liability before departing into chalet. A copy of our waiver (either guided or self guided) can be downloaded to read and sign before departing on helicopter.
  • If your group is unable to fly out of chalet when regularly scheduled to do so because of poor or unsafe flying conditions, you will not be charged for any additional nights spent at chalet.  However, if you are unable to fly in when scheduled, due to poor weather or any other reason beyond our control, your group will still be charged the amount of your regularly scheduled reservation.
